Bauer Botanical is my personal twist on the Bauer Bodoni typeface. Bauer Bodoni is a modern serif typeface with high contrast. Often used in fashion and upscale branding, Bauer Bodoni has an elegant and elite feel. My goal with my redesign was to make Bauer Bodoni more humanist and accessible, while also embracing a whimsical style. I took inspiration from the cottagecore design trends, aiming to create a typeface that recalls an old-world fairytale aesthetic. The end result is a typeface that still utilizes serifs, but in a fresh new way. Bauer Botanical has more curves than the original, but the high contrast of its predecessor is still present and a focus.
